Not my father's son

I sit here on the last day of a week with the boy. Those who are or who have been closest to me know I always feared being like my old man. I love him but he was always at a distance. This week with the boy has truly made me realize I am nothing like him.

Camping, fishing, movies, golf the conversations are nothing I had with dear old dad. I never even knew who my dads pals were. My friends all embrace the boy and love being around with us. Yes, quite a huge difference from mine and my brothers weekends with our dad. I don't even recall spending weeks at a time with him. I don't mean to bash the man at all. It was different then I suppose. I know he loves both me and my brother. Looking back it was just so lacking.

Any way, it is what it is. I feel better about the father I am than I have in a long time.
I'm so glad the boy's back here. Thank you to his mom.

For what it's worth Joshie boy, your dad loves you more than anything. I don't have much to give but myself. When you get older you'll see that that is plenty.

Love,

Dad

Ahhh, forgot I had this.....

4:16 on a Wednesday which is really my Thursday. Friday I'll be playing golf at the Rivera Country Club in Pacific Palasidas. Tonight I'll be watching my boy play ball and maybe catch the end of the Laker game. All should be right? It should, right?

More coming.....mind is turning again.

Hmm

We all love our family and friends, for sure. When it's all said and done, just make sure you have some stories to tell along the way.

I have a few things to toss up here but no time now. It's been about two months so I figured I'd just put one of my fav shots up for now.
I'll place a few words up here soon.....

Taking Shape

I first had the idea when I was pulled into the Flickr world. Not sure if I ever mentioned it or not. Then it came back to me after receiving the best Christmas gift ever. Again, I let it sit. Late last month I purchased some supplies needed for what’s in my head.. Then about a week or so later I pulled up to find my neighbor trying to place a very large (almost mammoth) board of plywood onto the top of her car. I inquired if she needed help and what exactly the hell she was doing. She was donating it to a local art store and no sooner did the words leave her lips did my idea take on a much lager image in my dome. “I’ll take it and save you the trip”. “Really”? She replied with a smirk of relief. So now I begin the process. The random here and there of the past months is behind. I know now this is better, I need this. If you take these words and consolidate them to one simple statement, “This is the shit I need to be doing”.

The Board

Tonight I was able to put the primer to my board. I had hoped to do more but the light faded too quickly. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to add color to it. Then it will be time to paint my frames and select the images I will use. A little progress is better than none.

I'm cheating

I am working on something else. I guess sometimes all it takes is a great song to describe any given night.
